Hole eight is one of the longer par four’s at Hillcrest. A creek runs through the middle of the hole which requires a lay-up shot from the tee for most people. The yardage to the creek from the blue tees is 282 yards, 267 yards from the white tees, 232 yards from the gold tees and 173 yards from the red tees. For most people an iron off the tees works best here anywhere from 200 yards to 250 puts you in good position for your approach shot. Off the tee you can find trouble left with out of bounds running up to the creek. There are trees down the left and right side that will impede a shot to the green, so it’s important to find the fairway from this tee. If you’re sitting 150 yards from the green on your tee shot you’ve done well. Into the green you’re faced with the narrowest green on the course measuring just 42 feet in length, but 156 feet in width. There is one sand bunker to the right side of the green and one grass bunker on the front left side of the green. Any hole location in the center of the green is easy to attack. However, be sure to aim at the correct flagstick as this is the green that is shared with hole number one.
