Alex R. Hunt, PGA – Head Golf Professional
Alex joined the Hillcrest team January, 2019 after spending nine years as the head professional at Dead Horse Golf Course in Knoxville, Tennessee. Alex is a second generation PGA Professional growing up at his father’s course in Hartford City, Indiana. Alex is a 2009 graduate of Methodist’s Golf Management Business program. He has an extensive range of talents, shining in the areas of merchandising, club fitting, tournament operation, and day to day operations. Alex was nominated for the 2017 and 2018 Merchandiser or the Year and Golf Professional of the Year for the Knoxville Chapter. Alex, his wife and three children are excited to call Indiana home once again!
Mark Powers – Golf Course Superintendent
Mark joined Hillcrest in October, 2016 as a consultant for the maintenance department and currently is the acting golf course superintendent. Mark has over 20 years of turf experience. He is a graduate of Purdue University where he earned a B.S. of Turf Science in 2000. After graduation Mark started as an Assistant Superintendent (2000-2001) and was quickly promoted to golf course superintendent (2001- 2006). In 2006, Mark took on additional responsibilities as the Assistant General Manager/Golf Course Superintendent (2006-2008) at Wildcat Creek Golf Course in Kokomo, Indiana. Mark relocated to Columbus, Ohio where he was the golf course superintendent of Blackhawk G.C. 2008 -2011. In 2011 the family was again relocated to Batesville Indiana where Mark chose to pursue a different path. He used his experience and expertise in golf course management to form his own business Turf Care Solutions LLC. Here Mark was able to provide clients golf course quality care for their turf.
Tabatha Messer – Administrative Manager/Controller
Tabatha joined the Hillcrest team July 2019. She has 10 years of accounting experience. Tabatha is an Indiana University graduate with High Distinction – A Bachelor’s of Science in Business with a concentration in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Psychology.
Katie Griggs – Westside Manager
Katie join the Hillcrest team in February 2020. She has previous experience serving as a lifeguard for 3 summers, but her main career is in mathematics education. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Ball State University in May 2015. Throughout her undergraduate program, Katie worked at the Ball State Recreation Student Center attending to patrons and ensuring their safety. Katie is currently working on earning her Master of Art degree in Mathematics Education.
